"KS Gladiator" – the first team of veterans in Zakarpattia specializing in adaptive sports

In January 2025, the first team of war veterans and wounded military personnel focused on developing adaptive sports was established in Zakarpattia region. The team "KS Gladiator" was formed based on the Carpathian Sich and the Veteran Hub. The first training sessions began as early as February, and the team started actively participating in sports events.

The team unites 28 war veterans who, despite their injuries, support one another, train regularly, engage in sports, and invite other servicemen to join. To this end, team members visit hospitals in Zakarpattia, communicate with recovering soldiers, inspire them by example, and encourage them to become part of the team.

The main goal is the physical and psychological rehabilitation of veterans, as well as creating a supportive space where everyone can find motivation, friendship, and encouragement.

The team participates in a wide range of sports, including: AIRBIKE, rowing, bench press at 50% of body weight, table tennis, skiing, kettlebell and dumbbell lifting, archery, volleyball, shot put, discus throw, basketball, arm wrestling, and running.

"KS Gladiator" actively takes part in national competitions. In February, the team represented Zakarpattia for the first time at a national championship in Lviv. They have also competed in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. Despite the short training period, participants are already winning prizes and proudly representing the region.

Earlier this year, the team also developed its own competition calendar across Zakarpattia region. Competitions have already taken place in Uzhhorod and Berehove. In July, the team will host a national adaptive sports competition in Uzhhorod called the "Carpathian Challenge."

In 2025, the team’s efforts led to the creation of the Zakarpattia Regional Federation of Adaptive Sports — one of the first organizations in Ukraine to systematically develop this field. The Federation supports veterans, organizes competitions, recruits new participants, and promotes a sports culture among wounded servicemen.

"KS Gladiator" is a community that gives veterans the opportunity to stay active and strong, no matter what they’ve been through.
